I think web developers will be just fine. I am more worried for people who use complex software such as CAD, music software or even Adobe suites. Porting to ARM is not impossible, but it's an additional cost they have to deal with.

Note that ARM, Nvidia and AMD consider newer architecture as trade secrets and make it really hard to access to certain information. Some of the current open drivers are really watered down.

Great job! Would love to see some performance comparisons with python numpy when the code is ready.

First time I hear people rooting for orban to fall due to his Corona politics. I mean, the guy is normally batshit crazy and I expected him to blame Gates and Soros for the virus... but his response so far has been surprisingly good.

Could be, but it will require some heavy investment from the FOSS community first. In general, drivers written by vendors have poor quality (tons of legacy code + the usual enterprise shenanigans) but benefit from having access to all docum

Haven't touched cubase since the DRM madness began. I know it has its fans, but it's not for me. I refuse to let one application completely take over my computer like that.

Interesting. How are the included effects and instruments? Is there a single version or different tiers like abelton, where you get almost no instruments with the cheapest tiers?

Yeah, took me a while to figure that out. Interesting to see that it took 15 years to get where he is today. I've never tried reaper, how does it compare to DAWs like abelton live, waveform pro (the old Mackie Traction) and bitwig (whi

IIRC, caustic was developed by a former game dev, and as such he worked hard to make it efficient and look good on all kinda of devices. For a while it was the most expensive app I had on my phone, and I bought it only to support the develo

I love what blender has done with the interface. It's like the exact opposite of Inkscape, which gets worse by every release. It no longer looks like incompetency, at this level I suspect sabotage by a competitor...

I'm _fine_ with snaps. As long as they are limited to applications (i.e. not OS components) and look reasonably like normal applications. Why? Because you can't ask developers to package their apps for 100+ distros. And they let u

Question to front end folks: How hard is it to add real-time voice communication to a web page using this? Can it be done without using third party libraries and frameworks?

Jeremy Howard has a very nice lecture about why this is important for AI. As a white dude my first reaction was "why should everything be about race" but he actually provides eye opening examples and numbers showing how the algort

But given that people have not been able to reproduce this suggests this was probably not automated. Also, I have hard time seeing an automated system that deletes someone's account including all data for using the f-word in their pass

Well, you do need a number of discrete components in both cases. Sometimes it's just cheaper to use a microcontroller. Specially when they are this cheap: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/blog/eevblog-1132-the-3-

You don't _need_ 555 for that. The last one I opened had two lm358 dual opamps but no 555. And nowadays we have dedicated ICs for that kind of things with much better safety and efficiency.

I would like to challenge that! Consider something like the 741. In fact, let's consider the single opamp IC family against the 555 family (including 556 and the rest). I bet you 55x is nowhere as popular as those.

In theory, you could develop an app that removes the image, publish it in the play store and then push it to your phone from stores web interface. No need for dev mode that way :) Edit: for this to work, the app must act as a service/r

What you see right now is the normal Google QA process. They have literally billions of beta testers, who are even paying for the privilege.
