Did you watch the video? This is inspiring to me on many levels. This probably earned him a salaried job at essentially any place he wants to work. Or at the very least an internship. I hope he considers skipping college. There's no reas

Sorry. It's definitely not my place to "enlighten" you. I don't want to be that kind of person. I just am compelled to speak up for what I believe to be right. I didn't mean to sound like I was attacking your opinion, so in retrospect, I

At my last job, they got me an SSD. About a month later, I started coding a new feature for their product. It was a few hours' worth of work, and they were using CVS, and didn't really have a good branching model, so I didn't do any work-

I too had the exact same experience: scrolled up halfway through to see whether Arrington wrote this, and was surprised to see it was MG.

As someone who has been here long, I can say for certain that HN would only benefit from politeness similar to F_J_H.

hmm... j = i++ + ++i; .... To me, it seems like that would be evaluated by operator precedence... ++ has a higher precedence than + So let i=1. The expression then becomes: j = i++ + ++i; j = {1}++ + ++{1}; j = 1 + 2; OR, j = 1 + 3

I mean, honestly, have you thought this through at all? Have you paid attention to anything in the last 20 years? Nope. You're correct. When I'm presented with a problem, I tend to point out the first solution that comes to mind. If the

Surely they could red-flag the term "LulzSec"? Yes, I'm advocating some well-thought-out censorship in this case. Anonymity + audience = lulzsec. If we remove the audience, we remove LulzSec.

HN already is a mobile-optimized version (except possibly the up/down arrows). No need to waste your time. EDIT: Well, the community has spoken.

These kids seriously need to be punched in the face. "For the lulz," as it were. Or perhaps "for great justice" would be more fitting. Is there any way we can help these 62,000 people? I'm reading through the password list now, and many

"No bandwidth cap" doesn't actually work, though. The average user (and even the average programmer) wants to use the internet for 1) entertainment, and 2) information. Those tasks don't require sustained, maximum bandwidth usage. The only

I sold my 5 BTC at $30/coin, and walked with $149.96 after fees. It certainly felt like a bubble, and I'm glad I got out when I did, even if it was only for spare change in the scheme of things.

What AirBNB did was directly illegal and immoral. It was illegal because it violated the CAN-SPAM act: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAN-SPAM_Act_of_2003#The_mechan... .... CAN-SPAM defines a "commercial electronic mail message" as "any e

Er... I didn't mean to make it sound like I was making fun of you. I wasn't, sorry. I'm truly serious: emphasis on "do whatever it takes to succeed" results in people doing illegal and immoral things to succeed, such as what Airbnb did.

I've sold 2 BTC so far. MtGox says I have $59.58. It's surprisingly painless. I'm waiting about an hour to see how the market moves, before selling my other 3. I'll let you know how much I have in the bank at the end of all this. EDIT: I'

This is nuts. I received 5 Bitcoins about a month ago, and didn't really think twice about it. I just checked, and if the current trade price holds, then I now have $146.50. That's a phone bill payment, for just being lucky. Pretty sweet
