These are all great points. Re: filtering, this needs to be better documented, agreed. "present"==="field exists for row, with any value". There's a distinction between empty grey and empty white cells that we tried to make but it may not

We're working on compatibility with the iPad, when we began working on this the only iOS devices were small screened and we had no hope of ever making this useful there... now that the iPad is out, well that changes things, and we hope to s

Hey HN, I was the creator and lead developer of this project, and we've been rolling it out for launch over the last few weeks. The homepage is: http://quickfuseapps.com/ We think it's really neat stuff--it basically takes the web mashup

Yeah, sharing links to your apps should work. If you make an app without creating an account, it is publicly shareable for about 1 day. Whoever creates an account to save it will take ownership, and then it becomes private.

We used jQuery UI as a framework, but built a lot of custom widgets for the wires, modules, nodes, receptors, etc. Yahoo Pipes was certainly an inspiration for our design, but we rethought the concepts behind using wires (using them as a

All of what you are talking about is majorly dependent on the field of development and the tools currently available. Python isn't available or practical for everything. Try this: http://quickfuseapps.com/app/edit It's for building voice

Hey fellow hackers, This is a platform for building voice apps in a drag and drop editor. You can probably see that inspiration was drawn from Yahoo Pipes, and a few other graphical programming languages. The entire interface is all JQuer

I assume this is a jailbroken iPad, so most iOS users will never know this even exists. There's just too much cool stuff in the jailbroken world that will never make it to the legitimate side...

What's wrong with Chicago? Chicago was genius. Old Macs had black and white screens, no grayscale. But grayed-out text was a necessity for showing disabled or unavailable items in the desktop GUI Apple was developing. Most bitmapped fon

You got lucky. Every sane ticket-taking venue, especially in New York, scans the barcodes. I am rather surprised that that particular venue accepts a printed sheet of paper at its word.

This is abusive, not clever. Anything that forces you to code things as opaque string literals that get eval'ed is not a good idea. The next person to come along is going to wonder "what is this doing inside a string? what is r?" You als

I was about to cite the second law of thermodynamics. I don't think people are on the whole bad to each other, but the ones that are can ruin it for everybody too easily in the absence of rules. Your example is perfect.

+1 for RT. It's gotten a little prettier since 3.8: http://blog.bestpractical.com/2008/07/today-were-rele.html#s... Incredibly powerful, free, customizable. Expect to learn a little Perl if you want to integrate with external systems, a

The point of that, really, was that Jobs shouldn't need to convince anybody about Apple's decisions, the products of the company speak for themselves. It's not as much an ad hominem as a "if you don't like my decisions Ryan, go make your o

I've already read it. The scrollbar itself is pretty, but you cannot exactly capture the precision of a mousewheel or in my case, a two-finger scroll event. For me, the two-finger scroll speed is disturbingly faster than other windows t

I think it's a cardinal sin for Cappuccino to replace native scrollbars and native scrolling. Maybe your UI gets to look a teeny bit more unified, but scrolling is almost as primitive an interaction as mousing. It is carefully tuned on ev

The intrinsic reason that web layout is particularly hard to do in an IDE is because the interactions between JS, HTML, and CSS are hard to fully represent in an editor. There is no simplistic, uniform layout system as you'd find in Cocoa
