   Telegram is even better, has a nice desktop client which doesn't really depend on the mobile . Whatsapp's web client is just an UI to the mobile app meaning you also need to have phone connected to internet always for it to work.

   I did indeed give it a trail run on all its modes Rancher/Kubernates/Docker swarm however I didnt feel like its production ready yet but it is certainly interesting.

    You are ignoring the Electricity/BW costs spent by your friend which would raise your costs I use backuplizard for personal data/photos which works out more like cost of a one 2 TB disk per year to me and to me Its easy to pay it

    http://greenycloud.com/easy-vpn-with-digitalocean-and-docker... here is another method to run openVPN on docker. Netflix,etc works however will be slow as every data has to be routed through the proxy.

    Yeah that is much more suited.. all the tiny php can be hosted on this without any SHELL/super user restrictions
