Always disappoints me when people who advocate for ending daylight saving are completely unaware that it was tried in Britain not long ago and generally hated.

Yeah it’s almost like moderation is a really hard problem that requires serious people to think deeply about it, not something that can be solved with vague platitudes about freedom.

I dunno, I used to work in PHP and I came to really loathe all the $ and ->. Like I get it’s just aesthetics but it bothered me how unnecessary they are.

Who is this article pitched at? It seems to veer from explaining very basic things to assuming advanced knowledge and ultimately winds up saying that the fundamental layer of reality is the universe, which feels pretty tautological.

Now that we’re heading back to dumping html over the wire I look forward to the reinvigoration of the XSS attack.

The biggest boon of JQuery back in the day was that it abstracted over all the browser variances, which were far more numerous at the time. Also many APIs simply didn’t exist(e.g. querySelector). Now that browsers are much mor standards com

Funny, I thought the basic concept was that they allow westerners to tick a box and mitigate the guilt they feel from living ludicrously unsustainable lifestyles.

This is my problem with wireless headphones. They’re cool but basically disposable when the battery degrades, which happens fast because of the usage pattern. Seems like an awful waste, I’ve gone back to wired. They will last me decades.

Atheism only exists in opposition so it is necessarily defined in terms of whatever theism is knocking about in the local environment. If I’m not dealing with a religious person I’m just going about my day. I’m not constantly thinking about

Sure there were lots of devices doing subsets of the features of iPhone but the feature set and execution of the iPhone was in a completely different class. The fact that the same fundamental design still dominates 15 years later shows how

That’s not my memory of it at all. I remember it feeling like something from the future. The massive screen, the accelerometer, the light and proximity sensors and the overall slickness of the UI were really clearly a step change. I didn’t

Your warranty rights are effectively non existent, that’s the whole point. You’d have to be an idiot or have very deep pockets and a lot of free time to try to enforce them over a 70 dollar screwdriver

I am that person and I’m very disappointed in myself for it. But the idea of someone buying twitter against their will just cracks me up. Also really punctures the visionary genius narrative.

I’m definitely not saying I want the poor to stay poor! I’m saying I’d like more equality and that isn’t possible at current technology levels. I don’t buy that decreasing population would limit technological progress at all. The vast major

I dislike this habit of blaming “leaders” in democratic countries. The problem is that the electorate either don’t care or won’t accept anything that might inconvenience them or require them to change their habits. Not much leaders can do
