Thanks for your kind words! Researching and writing this consumed most of my free time for about two weeks, but I think it was worth it.

Yes, I wrote the article. I wouldn't say the system in the release version is vastly different to the pre-release demo (there was only one to my knowledge, the E3 2005 one), as that just demonstrates a tightly scripted sequence of even

Radiant AI is in Oblivion and every game they've made since then. There's nothing to enable. The issue is primarily with the game content; it's used all over the place, but in the final game it's not very impactful.

Not easily. There's no built-in way to access the abstract syntax tree (or equivalent) of a function at run time. The best thing you can do is to obtain the source code of a function using `.toString()` and then use a separate JS parse

JS has used "well-known symbols"[1] to allow extending / overriding the functionality of objects for about 10 years. For example, an object is an iterable if it has a `[Symbol.iterator]` property. Symbols are valid object key

CSS-in-JS (like how Styled Components and Emotion do it) is primarily a solution to code organization. It doesn't fundamentally change how CSS works.

I certainly agree that Java / JVM had a lost decade (or even more), but not really with C# / .NET. When do you consider that lost decade to have been? C# has had a major release with new language features every 1-3 years, consiste

You can support many lights in WebGL just like you would with OpenGL. I implemented a rendering engine in WebGL2 a couple of months ago with deferred shading and support for hundreds of point lights using light volumes. I also implemented a

Most people posting to /r/gamedev have never shipped a game or even seriously attempted to (neither have I, to be clear). It's largely a forum for (beginner) hobbyists. My point being: it's very easy to "switch"

To my knowledge most if not all of these people driving Rust adoption in Linux are seasoned Linux contributors and/or maintainers. They are not outsiders "coming to other people's projects".

I think it was the first language to specifically introduce the async and await keywords, but it wasn't even the first language on the .NET platform to support the programming model - that honor goes to F#. See https://tomas

Dependencies are not allowed to use unstable features either with the stable compiler. The only exception is the standard library, which uses numerous unstable features even with a stable distribution of Rust.

I don't think the engine itself is buggy, or at least not all parts. Source 2 has been used in Dota 2 since 2015 and they also shipped Half-Life Alyx using it in 2020; neither is consider particularly buggy.
