Breaking my own rule only once: My car, that I own as a consumer, drove me through town, on the freeway, through another town, and into a parking lot four hundred miles away. Twenty years ago, that was sci-fi. HN would have been able to rea

Usually HN engineers are able to compartmentalize and correctly answer questions like this, but it’s a lost cause with Tesla for some reason. They’re unable to separate “it did a dangerous thing, but did not cause harm” in their minds. Yes,

It’s highly disincentivized by basic game theory. Any individual sacrifice has highly negative effects on the individual player, and undetectable positive effects on the problem we’re supposed to be solving.

Nah, that brings the 200-400mi range to my mind, far outside of the 750-1250km range that I intuit is implied by single-significant-digit “1000km” in this context.

Not a Trump fan, but I think it’s fair to say that Iran felt much less free to be jerks during 2017-2021 than recently. Very early in 2017, Trump sent a bunch of missiles into Syria ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017
