The only thing that you seem to be right about is the low level device control stuff. Everything else is pretty much already easy enough to do in Java. The language was designed with multithreading in mind.

Well, in all fairness, the same can be said about Visual Basic and all the <inser name here> .NET languages. And I'm not even a Windows programmer.

The way I read it, that concerns an attack by a single submarine. So what if there are a dozen or more enemy submarine. Is taking out a carrier for 2 or 3 subs a meaningful war exchange?

There actually is a law in France that forbids workers to check mail after hours. It's something :). "New French law establishing workers’ “right to disconnect” goes into effect today. The law requires companies with more than 50

Recently, I was working on an issue where our new frontend client was not receiving custom response headers from the server API. It turns out I had to expose headers first using 'Access-Control-Expose-Headers' [0]. Neither me, nor

We've switched to on-premises MM from HipChat at the beginning of the year. I miss the video conf functionality of HipChat, but other than that I think MM was the right decision for us. Everyone on the team seems to be happy with it.

I tried using FF for a while on my MBP. I could hear the fans turning on after I open a 4th tab. What's up with that? I don't want to use Chrome, but FF seems so slow.

I'm dealing with an old code base in which methods tend to process exceptions by catching, logging and returning a null. The dev that wrote this code treated exceptions more like a rare-occurring annoyance rather than a signal for erro

As someone that uses both languages, I can't help but think that the OpenJDK will (hopefully) start implementing much of the Kotlin paradigms. Perhaps at some point Java & Kotlin would not differ too much. Let's see what the 6

Ok, serious question. What happens if there're days when you go out with people and get in bed at 2AM? Do you still get up at 5AM? Doesn't that mess up your body for days after?

Yep, I'm familiar with Schneier's comments. I still find the whole thing funny though. For example, services like Viber seem to have 260 mil. active monthly users [1] which is a tad more than Telegram's 200 mil. on monthly ba

Thanks a lot for the MIT OCW lectures hint! I want to do the same in 2019. What works for me in general is diving into a side project and learning by hacking, but I fear ML won't be susceptible to this approach.
