What does one do to land a Java job when neither Spring, nor Quarkus experience is present? Backstory: I have been using Java SE for more than a decade now. Currently building a Java 17 pure Vert.x project. I'm quite seasoned with the

It seems China and Russia are actively building SMRs. [0] I'd be a pity if the west do not get serious at least about exploring the opportunity to test some of the designs being made. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

Actually, my not up-to-date info is that one is pretty much always required to declare the winnings of crypto sales in their Lohnsteuererklärung. Winnings below 600EUR or winnings for crypto assets sold after 1 year of possession are tax fr

How does this work? Do you declare that you have sold crypto at all, or you just sell after one year without notifying anyone?

I owe significant portion of my Win32 dev skills to VB6. It allowed for working with the Win32 SDK by importing API calls from user32, kernel32, gdi32, etc. When I was still in high school, I used to hack GUI projects and games in the eveni

Yes, it's kWh what is important to consumers. For example, an average 4-person family in Germany uses between 2600-5000 kWh / year vs. about 10 kWh / year in the USA. All in all, the greatest feature of SMRs in my opinion, is

I really like what you wrote. Thanks about that! The only issue I find with your comment is the expectation that there will be mass unrest or protests in Russia. Somehow I don't see this. People in ex-soviet countries are sadly used to

Are there really that many mainstream projects that use alternative dependency handling? Go modules were introduced in v1.11 and they seem pretty mature. The replace directive seems to solve the issues with forked projects in particular. [1

I wrote a tiny article with a couple of examples 3 years ago. [1] Having worked with JNI in the past, I find the FF concept convenient but still somewhat verbose. In any case, my experience is 3 years old. A lot may have changed since then.

Gradle has actually saved my build. About 3x faster than my old Maven setup. Also, my build files are much less bloated. The only problem I find is the API updates between major versions. Still, I’m never going back to Maven. Love Gradle. B

I had fun with Duolingo, but I can’t say it helped me learn anything. To me something is missing and the learning structure seems somewhat shallow. I’d not recommend it to someone that is serious about learning a new language.

I used to smoke only at work or when on work trips. My reason to stop was mainly the smell. I hated how my fingers smelled after a smoke. Every time I have the urge to smoke, I remind myself of that smell and it goes away.
