I’m sure you’re right about this, but this does not really contradict what bdjsiqoocwk wrote, does it? Are people in Russia today more politically active than they were 10 or 20 years ago? Do they think they can influence things more?

I’m registered with, and have been happily using for many years, all of the companies you mentioned (and a dozen more). I want them to know a lot about me so hopefully they show me relevant ads (I buy a lot of stuff) or provide better servi

You worry about wrong things. At any moment Putin can close the borders and start “cleaning”, 1937-style. Run while you can.

I haven’t read this paper but what you described is commonly done (look up top-k or top-p sampling and beam search as examples).

Sure. But even GPT-4 can be helpful in these areas, and I’m talking about GPT-6 and beyond. It’s fascinating how most people are not willing to look even a little bit into the near future.

help bridge the gap from VSCode and old Atom users I went from Atom to Pycharm to Vscode. Both transitions were fairly easy. Though I’ve never had any complex configurations.

Yes, SWE as a paid profession will disappear within 2-3 years, probably not long after GPT-6 is out. But don’t feel bad about our field - this will happen to all professions, some sooner than others. I expect that within 5 years robots will

How could one hour of video fit in 1M tokens? 1 hour at 30fps is 3600*30=100k frames. Each frame is converted in 256 tokens. So either they are not processing each frame, or each frame is converted into fewer tokens.

It’s scary. The political climate is rough already, rich/poor divide has been steadily growing since WW2. Boomers are retiring, stressing social security programs. And now we got the impending almost total unemployment…

So, later this year, GPT-5 is out, a little bit smarter than GPT-4, and a year later, GPT-6, yet a bit smarter. And every potential and actual employer will want to do what you just described. What do you think is going to happen?

Maybe. I just don’t like to confuse the two, it’s like talking to a middle schooler vs talking to a graduate student. In both cases you can say the experience sucked but you should specify which was it.
