If someone opened a PR, and it obviously doesn’t work but they claim they tested it, maybe that’s ok for the first time. The second time it happens they gotta go. I would find the expectation that I need to attach a screenshot insulting. An

Didn’t know your code could satisfy requirements without working. /s My priorities are as follows: 1) code works 2) code satisfies requirements Not sure how anyone can prove their code satisfies requirements when it doesn’t run.

I’m assuming you work in a setting where there is a QA team? I haven’t been in such a setting in 2008 so you can ignore everything I said. But I wouldn’t want to be somewhere where people don’t test their code, and I have to write code that

How often do you buy stuff that doesn't work, and you are OK with the provider telling you "we had a reasonable belief that it worked"? How are we supposed to use software in healthcare, defense, transportation if that's

I don't test my code because I think it's my duty. I test it because my personal motivation is to see it working! What's the point of writing code if I don't even get to see it run?! If someone's not even interested

Without maintainability, adding a new type of input or feature will break existing features. Doesn’t matter how quick it is to write from scratch, if you want varying inputs handled by the same piece of code, you need maintainability. In a

Great idea! Did you consider using treesitter instead of the pseudo compiler?

For a lot of things we don’t opt for the cheapest solutions that also lack redundancy for a lot of things. Why not for the “information highway”? Most efficient = cheaper. A lot of times cheaper sacrifices quality, and sometimes safety.

Exactly. Just as the lord intended. Although Azure just randomly fails, and then it turns out it actually worked but the UI had failed. But then the next step throws an obscure error message, but you get around that on a different screen, s

Ok. Thanks for clarifying that in your view it’s worth deporting a few citizens to a prison in another country so that we can deport folks at Home Depot parking lots etc.

Which one? Your article cited pet cats in Australia. Not sure how to classify the ones in Istanbul, but the point stands that the amount of harm claimed in the article is overblown.

- No problem with deportation as long as civil liberties aren’t trampled on. - 3rd country prison “because they will be back soon” is _plainly illogical._ What’s the point of deporting if you won’t maintain a border? Are we deporting people

Anyone on US soil - regardless of citizenship status - has a constitutional right to due process. Whether or not they deserve could be a matter of opinion that has no significance.

I genuinely don’t follow. Had the immigrants not been moved to Chicago proper enforcement would be easier? Something about Chicago terrain or climate requires the enforcement to be this way?

Pretty obviously. In fact, you defined a pretty good standard with the exception of the snark about what the OP deems humane - not deporting to an overcrowded prison in a 3rd country can’t be that hard to agree on. All evidenced by the fact

Those stats on “how free roaming pet cats harm the society” will be a tiny bit hard to believe for anyone who has spent more than a few hours in Istanbul. Assuming the pet cat in Australia is the same pet cat in Europe.

You can test the logic of your argument by imagining it being exploited by malicious actors. If it can be exploited, it’s probably a bad argument. By your logic, false flag attacks can be used to legitimize genocide. I am not saying those a
