AJAX and updating DOM wasn't there just to "make things faster" it was implemented there to change paradigm of "web sites" or "web documents" — because web was for displaying documents. Full page reload ma

There is a lot of truth in No Silver Bullet and I had the same idea in my mind. Downside is there is much more non essential busy work because of which people had their jobs and now loads of those people will lose the job. People who do wor

Yeah but GIT notes are not the best tool for that unless you are single dev working on your project or you have team of only devs. If you have manual testers they have their own set of tools and most of them don’t use or have working knowle

I think you underestimate inefficiency of requiring all business analysts and employees to learn GIT. If not all employees than more employees. I can pick put up job ad for BA saying knows JIRA and I have dozens of applicants. We had a tech

I can imagine that could be nice feature on a router. Trigger fw blocking automatically but to unlock you have to go to the router and press physical button. I guess I can implement that on raspberry pi.

ISO27001 I wouldn’t call rigid, most of the stuff you should be doing anyway if you use any software. checking for evidence that you are doing those things I would call ridgit. SOC2 as attestation doesn’t require so much documentation.

My grandma should not have root on her phone and a lot of younger people as well. Making it easy to root phone makes it easy for scammers to ask people to unlock it. It should not void warranty if you unlock the phone. But security concerns

I really like if they would do shotgun Jesus riding a t-Rex that instead of being crucified is immersed in giant crucible showing thumbs up as he is consumed by molten hot metal because he knows he will be back.

Your take on this is downvoted because that’s quite arrogant to reduce all racing games to two objects moving. Everything in life can be much more complicated and nuanced if you put an effort in it as reality has infinite amount of details.

This sounds exactly like under utilized - if someone needs a function or two from a library I guess making yourself depending on 3rd party for such small gain doesn't make sense.

It is a feature not a bug. What author describes is about dominance. Most OSS is fragmented because of different ideas and different people. People nag about .NET not having much outside OSS because .NET devs (I am one of them) will not use

I agree with your take. But I think a lot of people are in state where they need to run stuff the way it is because “just turn it off” won’t work. Like system after years on k8s coupled to its quirks. People not knowing how to setup and run

Well nope SSL and TLS is more like Angular and AngularJS. No one should use SSL or AngularJS in 2025 unless they have to maintain some legacy stuff for important reasons.

It is like ages since SSL was obsoleted but people still refer to the name meaning encrypted network traffic. Would be much easier if everyone just talks about TLS to mean modern encrypted network traffic. Mention SSL if you really use it b

Valid reason for them is they would have to spend money on supporting and maintaining cross signing. I can image it is much much cheaper to just store priv key. So if they can get away with it they just do it, no one is there to stop them.
