That’s advice like „wake up earlier, read more books to be just like Bill Gates”. Playing golf alone will not get you in the circle. Even if you never played golf getting invited to play golf by someone from the circle gets you play the gol

I don’t see how a year is an indication of something going wrong. Year for a junior is perfectly reasonable. Definitely making a commit to a GIT repo or opening a PR for textual change they should be able to do in first days. But doing any

Seems like you missed H1B visa rules change. They basically move all H1B from US to India not to deal with $100k per employee. Nothing changes just Indian guys move back to India and will be spending money there instead of sending some mone

That doesn’t mean feature paid itself off if you invest with idea that it will be useful for more than 1/5 of users and when feature brings single customer and is marginally useful for other customers. Then also you have ongoing cost

That’s why pushing back on features is important. It is super hard to remove them once they are in. Most of the time it goes way that sales people promise something you build it „because that’s going to be great huge customer” - but after a

Well I never liked bigger Airsoft events - going into some abandoned buildings with 5-10 guys we know well to play was always best fun for me. Downside is you cannot do that in current circumstances.

That was my main use case for vibe coding. All the crap I usually googled and had to endure ads but it was never painful enough to write code myself. I could just tell Claude to make me stuff and I can just host it myself.

I don't really see this argument playing out. As much as I was trying out copilot — if I ask it to make "todo app" it will make me a "todo app" it will not hallucinate making "calculator app". Duplicated c

The fun part is that specs already are non-deterministic. If you spend time to write out requirements in English in a way that cannot be misinterpreted in any way you end up with programming language.

For me the issue is some people expect everything to be simple/easy to do without any prior knowledge and then claiming it is not really hard but you are gatekeeping and only if you could explain it easier they would definitely grasp i

Because learning how to make a proper one requires building your own broken one first. It might be slightly sped up by reading up on theory and past experiences of others. I am around mid life and I see how I can tell people stuff, I can po

Well known and mature tools are still sharp and lots of them are not tedious to use. . I picked "sharp" not "exciting". Dull knife doesn't do its job, you want tools that do the job efficiently. "Boring"

Problem is official definition is „not interesting, tedious” with synonym „dull”. As much as I do get the idea, I can see how promoting use of tedious to use and dull tools is something that really misses the mark. Well known and mature too

Have you tried Dependency Track from OWASP? Generate SBOM from each repo/projects and post it with API to DT and you have full overview. You have to hook it up so it is done automatically because of course stuff will always move.
