I don’t see how a year is an indication of something going wrong. Year for a junior is perfectly reasonable. Definitely making a commit to a GIT repo or opening a PR for textual change they should be able to do in first days. But doing any bigger task on their own that needs architectural understanding of our system a year is definitely good.
