I grew up about a mile away from the federal reserve they hacked in this movie, and other than the X-Files, Sneakers is the only media I've ever heard my small hometown of Culpeper, Virginia mentioned in. So Sneakers has always held a

Legend. Don't think I'd love football nearly as much as I do if he wasn't around calling games when I was a kid. He had an infectious love for the game. The game lost a lot of its appeal when he stopped broadcasting.

1. I don't know, maybe just don't be a piece of shit company. 2. JetBrains charges me $12 a month ($149 annually) for its entire suite of software. You think this tool by itself is worth $120 a year? For a personal license? 3. Dev

I do understand what maintenance and ongoing feature additions entail. That's a problem that FOSS tackles. Asking me, the end-user, to commit to $14 a month in perpetuity for this type of software is a big stretch in my opinion. I unde

That's rad, will join the subreddit. Yeah, I agree about the difficulties of enforcing local usage. Honestly, it was probably a matter of long distance fees that kept the BBSes I loved well-used and local. Something similar could be li

Price point on the personal account is too high over time. Would expect this to be a one time payment rather than a monthly fee for this type of software.

Yes, everyone but you is wrong. Many logical people have decided to abstract away their soul-crushing anxieties and legal gray area during outages to incredibly stable and well-staffed cloud infrastructure providers. If you and your team ar

I get some nostalgic value out of using SyncTERM to connect to a BBS and poke around, but the only things I really miss are the ANSI art and the hyper-local feel of the chat. BBS's were my introduction to networking and I love them, bu

I don't mind a real advent calendar, but there's something wholly offensive to my soul about this designer spending so much time on code that only exists to needlessly strip away my freedom to overindulge... on information... that

This is easily the worst UX of the year for me. Designed by an absolute alien. Do they really think I'm going to come to this site every day to see a GIS thumbnail instead of just doing a google search to find the entire, unopinionated

This is a bad take. This new breed of Republicans thrive on personal attacks and ignore policy entirely when voting. Of course it's anti-science. You don't think this governor has advisors that told him the reporter looked at sour

You're very wrong. It's waiting for an app that gets shared video viewing right. Bigscreen VR is close, but not quite there.

They probably let go some valuable employees, given that things like this lack nuance entirely. All of the services listed could be considered distractions from work in several situations depending on the engineer.

I use an Occulus 2 headset, Bigscreen VR app, headphones, and that's it really. I personally prefer hooking my Occulus 2 up to a PC, but it's not required unless you're doing a room with more than 4 people in it but that'

Bigscreen VR lets you use local files. You can share them via e-mail with people who only have the headset and no PC, and they can use the occulus browser to download the file to the headset. This essentially means the quality is up to you.
