Great post, thanks for sharing! If you are in Shanghai in the future, would love to get a coffee. We are running a new incubator here. Seems we might have a lot in common!

There are counter examples to everything, that doesn’t make it bad advice. Some people smoke cigarettes their whole life and live until old age without ever getting cancer. Should we conclude smoking does not cause cancer just because there

Nice work. It's a little too heavy (not snappy enough) for my personal taste, but I like the concept and the site is overall impressive. Have you thought about making a desktop or mobile app? Might make it more responsive.

Thanks for this, you might be right. I will have to look into it more. If it's true then this is not so bad. Edit: Can you find a better source? All of the sources I find say that "it is not clear" if the 5-year rule and 30-d

My top 2: 1. Interview customers to discover the right segment and if they care enough about the problem you want to solve. 2. Use a landing page to validate the solution and marketing channels before you build it.

This is definitely a low-end estimate. To build a good product takes a team of four senior people (2 back-end, 1 front-end, 1 UX) 6-12 months including the iteration and modifications. Let's say the average salary for a senior person i

Starting this year it will be for China. Not sure if you heard, but now all foreigners who live in China more than 6 months a year will have to pay tax on their global income.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but you are probably not important enough to be their target. Unless they could exploit you in order to exploit someone more powerful they care about, like a corporate or political leader. This is more to prot

Dealing with all the stress, it really helps when you have co-founders you can rely on and trust to have your best interests above all. It was really disappointing to read about how it seemed his co-founder was undermining him to secure the

The point about Lean Startup is close, but ultimately incorrect. The whole idea behind pivoting is to make a dramatic change when iteration starts to put you into a local maximum. Eric Ries explains it exactly in this way: when each additio

Seeing the OP relentlessly defend his use of the word SJW in this thread is the most entertaining thing I've read today. I have to applaud all the commenters who tried to do the right thing and explain to him his mistake. Yet the guy c

Yes, but automobiles aren’t addicting. I believe a better title would be about “today’s smart phone” assuming we will still have smart phones in the future but they won’t be designed to be addicting anymore.

Medium is blocked in China. So anyone writing on Medium is preventing 1.5B people from being able to access your information. I am not sure about write.as, this is the first time I am hearing about it. But generally the best way for access

Well said. Not to mention the biggest issue here is not about ads. It is the potential for abuse of power and for Facebook or partners of FB to target and harm specific individuals.

I also wanted to note that the millisecond response time performed by AlphaStar also seems an unfair test. While the average was around 350ms, this number is skewed by a significant long tail extending up to 1300ms for some actions. The mos

Interested to hear what others here think. The APM metric includes all clicks a player makes. AlphaStar's APM is lower than a typical pro's, but that does not mean it is making fewer actions. All pros try to keep a high "temp
