ripgrep supports the most common features while still being much faster than ack. So it's no comparison for me.

That would be JavaScripts native Map, no?

I've said the same a few years ago on Reddit and got downvoted to hell. JS due to maintaining backwards compatibility is already huge (syntax-wise) and is going to grow even bigger.

Most devs probably know operator overloading from C++ and Scala, which both go way overboard with them. Operator overloading on a limited set on operators, like in Kotlin is fine.

Having an interface for a single implementation is just redundant. A class already has an interface - it's public API. Other than that I agree, most "best practices" are subjective and boil down to personal preference.

I don't know about other languages, but in Kotlin these are normally inlined, which means no allocation.

In Kafka, you can use log-compacted topics, which only keep the last snapshot of a key, and allows deletions via tombstones.

I've found kustomize to be really nice. Much less powerful than Helm, easy to learn, good enough for most tasks. https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/kustomize

I've tried this out but the difference was almost immeasurable. Probably depends on the type of project.

The caching is Gitlab CI biggest weakness IMHO, super slow, and as you said cache strategies are to few to be useful.

In Kotlin, calling mapOf() gives you a LinkedHashmap. Which is a weird choice IMHO.

Not a huge fan of JS but you can't deny that the language has improved tremendously over the years while still maintaining backwards compatibility.

That looks awesome! Shouldn't also be too hard to create a GraalVM native image from that.
