This is probably the most valuable advice. Less code has less bugs, is easier to read, test and document.

I sometimes wonder if tools like Anki aren't just another form of procrastination. The time invested could probably be better spent.

git flow never made sense for me. Because of the complexity some devs would always mess things up or ignore the branching altogether. Merging all the related branches into master when doing a release took multiple days and often introduced

Jenkins has a Groovy DSL for several years. YAML support came much later.

I would have preferred .pipe, .partial and .partialRight functions in the std library instead of adding more syntax sugar.

Automatic dependency updates for Maven projects, currently GitLab only, implemented as a Maven Plugin. https://github.com/helpermethod/dependency-update-maven-plug...

There is no DevOps role. There is no DevOps team. Devs doing Ops != DevOps. DevOps is about tearing down silos (Dev and Ops), not creating new ones.

Sorry but that is BS. Devs and Ops should work together to achieve a common goal, not work in separate silos. That's the heart of DevOps, not devs doing ops.

OP here: The plugin is in currently at a pretty early stage but already used productively. It was developed because I wanted something like DependaBot which works for self-hosted GitLab instances.

For me, NGE was both the best and the worst anime had to offer. On one hand, the music, art style and the fights were amazing. On the other hand, I found most characters downright disgusting (mostly Shinji and Asuka).

I think for Java projects Bazel is a very bad choice. Last time I've checked it was not even able to resolve dependencies transitively. And I doubt that it's faster than recent versions of Gradle.

Sorry for the late response. The killer feature of GitLabCI is that it offers the same functionality as all the tools you've mentioned but much better integrated because they are all part of GitLab. E.g. for CI you don't need to c

Im using fd for quite a while and find it superior to find. Other nice, modern replacements: * rg (replaces grep) * lsd (replaces ls) * mcfly (replaces reverse-search)
