There are hundreds of reasons why this wouldn't work, mainly the fact that almost nobody watches the same ads, meaning you're just rendering 100,000+ different versions of the same video depending on who watches it.

If you ever wanted to see how stupid the "YouTube is bad for blocking ads" thought camp is, this comment is a perfect example. "If creators wanted to get paid they should just run more ads" fucking LOL YouTube creates th

You not watching YouTube is literally what Google wants, you're a net negative to them, so they're making your experience as miserable as possible to make sure you don't come back without money or the ability to watch an ad.

I never understood why people pay so much for Datadog, seems like such a weird business model where people use it only because it's convenient but after implementing Datadog their only goal is to use it as a stop gap before they use so

If you have a family that talks to you it's the defacto website to share photos and plan gatherings.

Honestly how does the EU expect companies to make money? Are websites supposed to be a charity? I guess it's no surprise they have 0 competitive tech companies if these are the smooth brain laws they have to operate under.

Glad I'm not the only one, I dropped Paramount Plus because they started showing ads on their ad-free plan. Getting ads blasted in your face just ruins the mood for whatever you were going to watch, I'll gladly pay more for a bett

The largest VOD services stopped using H.264 in any meaningful way or only as a last resort, bandwidth is just too expensive to justify using it. Even phones in third world countries include VP9 and HEVC hw decode, it's rare to run int

Doesn't matter to me, if an email doesn't have a one click unsubscribe I just mark it as spam. Messes with their email reputation so they hopefully get kicked off of reputable email services.

Extra scandalous too since stuff like load balancers will use a bunch of IPv4 addresses that they can now charge extra for, with no way to avoid the fees since you can't turn off IPv4.

This is essentially a broad price increase without saying it as things stand today. Most AWS services require IPv4 and in most cases even if you don't require IPv4 there isn't even a way to turn it off. Example: if you run load ba

You can have bad PR but if you have what people want, it doesn't matter. Nintendo won't lose sales, just like how Apple doesn't lose sales when factory workers try to kill themselves.

T-Mobile objectively has the best network if you have good reception. They locally peer, you're getting your own IPv6 address, and their interconnections are excellent (except with AT&T as AT&T refuses to peer and they use Zayo

Quad9 doesn't work on AT&T, because of poor routing you're sent to Miami or Amsterdam.

I like how this article conveniently left out the fact that Google also created JPEG-XL, and implies AVIF is a Google proprietary format. Can't believe how far FSF has fallen if they have to resort to straight up lying to people to get
