I don't quite follow the logic that it doesn't matter. If the reason for someone not to buy a Tesla is because they do (A), why is the alternative to buy from another manufacturer that also does (A)?

Something to supplant the Ambient Light Sensor API would be great. A boolean value there really goes a long way toward minimizing privacy concerns.

Text accompanied by images has been a staple of modern visual communication for the past several hundred years. Emojis just bring additional ways to express oneself in addition to plain text. They augment; they do not replace.

Metal is a lower-level API, somewhat similar to Vulkan or Direct3D 12. OpenGL supports driver extensions that can be used to reduce overhead in a similar manner to Metal, but this is largely a moot point when it comes to OpenGL on macOS, as

They’re very sought after, yeah. Probably a combination of the design itself and heavy pop culture exposure — at one time you’d have a hard time finding a TV show or movie where a G4 Cube didn’t make a cameo.

Microsoft’s usage of “open” here is that “any developer can plug into and extend” GitHub, which I guess in most respects is true. It’s not open in the sense of being open-source (though some GH components/projects are) or community-led

That's good to know. This only applies to what Microsoft calls "consumer non-gaming apps", however. Games and presumably what Microsoft considers professional apps are still subject to the existing fee structure. For the time

"Despicable" is pretty questionable. I still use my six-year-old iPad almost daily. That's certainly a longer lifespan than I've ever gotten out of any PC or a Mac, and the reason is probably because it isn't a fu

I have the same model iPad as the author. Mine is pretty much dog slow at even relatively simple things now, but it still works, and I rarely mind waiting for it to trudge through things. I’d like to replace it at some point, but even at $2

It’s a given that the more GitHub features you use, the more difficult it is to move away from GitHub. It’s also a given that you can reasonably limit the extent to which you use GitHub and thereby limit the difficulty in transitioning to a
