I think they are trying to say that other OSes have many more annoying UX patterns e.g. Windows update, macOS permission popups etc, auto-starting apps. Not to say these can't be turned off, but the default experience is not great.

my point was that i am not convinced that ad blocking is a copyright violation since it "rewrites the bytes" of a page. any number of browser extensions and user actions can do so. that's not the same thing as asking for open

in my experience, kagi's search quality is not universally better than google - it still lags behind on current events, shopping, sports... it is better at finding documentation and technical articles and deprioritizing SEO spam
