I think HN readers are missing the point. It's not about the money, or opportunity to (or lack of) make living off a blue collar job today. Here's what I got from reading this article. No job is beneath me. I once scoffed at an op

Closed source binary firmware? No thanks. I probably would not deploy it for a server with sensitive data, but if it was really really cheap, it might be ok for air-gapped system for testing servers, but other than that, I'm not sure.

The main reason I didn't use Authy was that it requested phone number when signing up, and it didn't make any sense to me why they'd need it. Since then, I've been using 2FAS, since there's no personal data that ca

It's because most of us are curious individuals. I had a lot of interests: coding, playing musical instruments, cars, woodworking, embedded systems, audio/video engineering, etc, but I had to pare it down to just a few after havi

I got so used to the inverted-y that it's the first thing I change in the game setting as I just can't play on normal settings on any FPS. I wish that inverted-y was the default for all games. I don't know when I got used t

We should have labels like this for web hosting service, cable tv providers, cell phone providers, etc... I've been trying to get a web hosting service, but everything has a fine print on price with asterisk. It took me awhile to figu

I've been looking for a cross-platform dotfile management tool and I had some hope for this but it seems a little too complex, and I don't like that I would end up with lots of yaml/toml/json files. I use Mac, Windows,

This reminds me of the anime "Welcome to the NHK"( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYLsjJ8RThQ ) where the protagonist is a hikkomori and works on creating a video game with his neighbor.

I wished all devices came with at least a schematics (or downloadable pdf) even if it weren't designed to be repairable. I remember getting my first computer, C64 in the 80's, and it came with schematics in the back of user manua

I wish I had been given advice like this when I was younger. As an introvert, I've learned my lesson to decline most social events as I got older. In my 20's and 30's, social event was almost a "YES", despite not

Is this a faster version of rm, optimized for speed, like FUC's rmz ( https://github.com/SUPERCILEX/fuc )? I was hoping that it could do that, seeing this is written in rust (hopefully for performance)

This is why I advocate separation of work space and personal space, especially when working from home. It allows my mind to reset after physically leaving a space designated for work. If I don't, my mind will linger on work way more

I just tried it and it runs nicely. I'm sure you get this request all the time, but I'd love to have VIM key binding. I'm still using vim/neovim and I open a "temp.txt" for scratch.

This is nice! One thing that bothers me is the web page's Title which is "VideoGist". I'd appreciate it if it could be named "VideoGist - <youtube video title>" or something like that.
