To the extent it really did exist as not a joke it was mostly misplaced ire that should have been directed at Verizon, which didn't support regular text messages larger than 160 characters for far longer than was reasonable. (Every oth

Yeah it's very clear that they still plan to have the website work without JavaScript. In the longer term, adding support for a frontend build step in deployment and for server-side rendering (SSR) of UI components are two tasks that

Thanks to this comment I noticed mine has a hospital: bannerhealth.com (8) The portal where I access my records is on a third-party vendor's domain and this is likely just from Like buttons on their public site. But I wouldn&#

I guess you were downvoted because you don't need Office?? Windows itself comes with an interpreter (VBScript) and a compiler (vbc.exe).

The linked bug appears to be waiting on action from the Debian maintainers. The Mozilla devs in that thread seem very responsive.

The npm registry itself does not depend on GitHub. It's true that most developers rely on GitHub for pushing to the registry, but there are a handful that use GitLab or self host that would be totally unaffected.

Android constantly nags about "network might be monitored" when custom certificates are installed. It won't if you add name constraints to your root certificate (because then it can't be used for blanket monitoring).

That's not what the OP said originally. It's a bit disappointing that people are dispensing security advice without understanding the difference between password reset mechanisms and 2FA mechanisms. :-(

That's a SMS password reset mechanism, e.g. one-factor authentication, not two-factor authentication.

I understand that it could reduce your security to the level of one-factor authentication. That's really easy to do. It is not reducing the security below what one-factor authentication provides, like the OP argued it did.

That analogy doesn't make sense. It's more like you have a deadbolt and a regular lock. Sure, you can open the regular lock with just a credit card, but that doesn't help you with the deadbolt...

How does an insecure second factor affect the security of the original factor? EDIT: apparently the OP meant SMS password reset without requiring the second factor, not SMS 2FA. Of course that's terrible.

The SVN documentation (used to) warn that concurrent access in this configuration could lead to data loss. Even though I'm the only human who accessed my repository I did use scripts , so I always avoided this setup because of that.
