I'm aware of the Distributed Systems and SICP. I've always wanted to do the distributed systems course, but it just always seems to be at 3rd or 4th spot on my priority list lol, hopefully one day get to do it. SICP falls into wha

By saying computer science, I'm excluding stuff that are theory oriented, and I also dislike most programming language courses, even though this one does try to teach you Rust.. So that pretty much leaves us with systems courses. Water

In my opinion this course https://tc.gts3.org/cs3210/2020/spring/lab.html , is the best OS course ever, perhaps even the best computer science course ever. Thru the labs you build a bare metal OS for raspberry

Pretty underwhelming a bit like the A16 release. They basically upped the frequency in A16 and that's how they got their single core performance improvement, not much of an IPC increase to speak of. Given the numbers they quoted, same

They just updated their macbook air and mac studios and mac pros like 6 months ago? If they updated right now, the previous owners would feel utterly screwed over.

It kind of can if you want to add programmability to your switches. So on top of traditional switches, you can add a cluster of DPUs in order to add networking functionalities to your switches. Microsoft has done just that. https:/&#x

They use Tofino as the networking switch. But Intel is discontinuing Tofino so I'm wondering what does future upgrade path look like for Oxide? Would they consider something like a p4 programmable DPU as the replacement?

Performance is competitive if we believe their marketing talk comparing unreleased CPU products. Saying it's inevitable, I'd like to have whatever crysty ball you got there.

How are they clever? Their core product AI chips seem OK, but why the sudden bet on RISC-V. And Jim Keller even puts out some ridiculous statements about RISC-V taking over the data center in 5 to 10 years. To me they seem to be losing focu

For me, pirating is also incredibly easy though, I don't even need to care which streaming platform it's on, just find the right torrent on a few clicks and voila. But I kinda live in the stone age where I don't use much my s

You seem to get downvoted but this is true, I've only ever had a trial sub once, after which it's been pure pirating. I have a friend who is very wealthy by most standards, he's still too cheap to get a subscription and inste

Even in math, axioms are kinda arbitrary. They are mostly defined because they can be used to prove stuff that are perhaps useful, in this sense, they aren't arbitrary. But there are infinite sets of axioms out there for the same branc

I have a Dell R960 with 96 sticks of 64gb ram which sums up to 6TB. But damn would I love to have one of these, not only for the much higher capacity but also the higher memory bandwidth from ddr5.
