Not sure if this makes sense, however, I've always preferred MariaDB to Postgres because it feels lighter . And I haven't really come up against any significant limitations in MariaDB that would make me want to switch to Postgres

Hi, this looks great. I run an accounting/productivity SaaS ( https://usebx.com ) and would be interested in integrating with your API. Would love to learn more about your product over a call (contact details in my profile).

I think that's the broad, standards based support that they were missing!

I was going to ask why your app is 50+mb. I guess it's all the flutter related bundles that add to the weight... Not criticising - just curious! Nice app and congrats on getting it live :)

The advantage is reduced server costs + more efficient use of computing resources in general. I personally am always happy to offload processing to the client side wherever possible.

Especially given how rarely our desired outcomes match our original motivations... We try to achieve one thing, but often end up achieving something else!

I had a quick look at Zotero's github but couldn't quite work out how they render their desktop UI - is this an electron-style app or a browser extension of some sort?

I don't disagree that local data for PWAs has always been fragile. I wished browsers were taking steps to make it less fragile, as opposed to more fragile. It would allow certain use cases to become valid for PWAs, thereby circumvent

I mean, if you give the app access to your filesystem (which a lot of non-tech users would, almost without thinking), it can potentially access/modify/delete your files and folders. With PWAs, that's not really a possibility.

That's a relief. We've built our business on our PWA, which also has an offline mode. It would be annoying if we had to adjust it for (yet another) Safari quirk.

Your app needs to be downloaded the first time too. In fact, a downloaded app can run riot on your filesystem. A web app runs in the "cage" of the browser, and is arguably more secure and explicit about permissions it requests.

So you can think of absolutely no situation where a user would access a web app, and might want to store state info locally?

My comment from a similar article: Rather than wiping local storage/indexed DB data after 7 days, could you not just make it an opt in thing, like the camera or mic? For example, ask users "Allow myapp.com to store app related dat

I especially like the fact that you can have counters in asciidoc, so you can do interesting kinds of numbering. Trying to do the same in markdown is tricky and it's what actually led me to asciidoc.

I believe it's 5% of those tested; a group which will almost certainly be composed of those more vulnerable. Thus, I don't think it's representative of the entire population.

What makes you believe that 5% of your population will be unable to withstand the coronavirus? Seems a little high to me (I am not a doctor, just basing this on what UK government has published around recovery rates).

I've found that the call quality drops after about 20 minutes when using the Zoom web app on Chrome with participants from London/US. Also, the memory usage of the Chrome tab goes sky high. Doesn't happen with hangouts though
