Having interacted with Stripe's chat and email support, I have a similar feeling - their goal is to get me to go away instead of actually helping with my problem. My first and only choice is their discord support, when that doesnt help

I wouldnt call it a "gotcha". Using vanilla javascript you'd be using className as well: document.body.className = 'class1 class2' JSX chose to align names to the DOM spec [0]. Same for htmlFor and friends.

useEffect was designed to allow shooting yourself in the foot, in a good way. There's never a situation when react doesnt allow you to accomplish something - the page even a mentions of synchronising with jquery! Whats the alternative

Its a post-communication world. While before only a title was read and comments made based on assuming what the content is, now we assume what the comment is and reply based on that.

Its not an optimisation, its about state management. React can’t see the difference between a reorder and remove&insert. When reordering items the state should be moved as well; when removing and inserting a new item, state should reset
