Raytheon, Lockheed, and Boeing all hire ex-Pentagon/Defense officials as well so the official "lobbying #s" are probably low for all of them. ;) I think Palantir's goal is to burn as hot as it can for as long as it can,

They do NLP analysis of social media feeds [Facebook, Twitter, etc] which is one of the products Palantir sells to Governments already to find "terrorists".

Thanks for explaining. :) Anything I have that uses that level of disk i/o I don't run in a VPS which would explain why I've never noticed before.

It is always DO vs. Linode because both are relatively stable, relatively good for their price points. Tbh, the only real reason I use Linode over DO is the fact I've seen higher restarts on my DO nodes and the fact I've attracted

Yes, but that is a MWS issue not an AWS issue.

I'm amused by the downvotes combined with the unwillingness to define "full line".

Ah, but it was Amazon selling the product, not the vendor. The vendor claims Amazon revoked the keys so when you try to activate the product it was unusable without using a crack.

That isn't true. I've had to issue chargebacks when Amazon's vendor and Amazon couldn't come to an understanding and I never received the software product w/o a revoked key.

Ya, I am surprised by that too. I'd create one but I'd feel guilty. My ads cover my costs.

To be fair, the stuff you are talking about is targeted malware. The odds of people being actively targeted rather than passively surveilled is orders of magnitude in difference. Everyone is being passively watched at some level, even if it

Eh? What do you consider "full line"? I'm pretty sure Netflix uses it due to the highly variable usage situation. It never makes sense to have a server sitting idle for 23 hours a day.

I'm not 30 yet but I suspect I'll still be playing video games at 30 too. ;) They are fun to relax and no worse than TV. :D http://www.bls.gov/news.release/atus.nr0.htm 2.8hrs of TV / day is the average

They probably assume you have to pay for 24/7 DC tech / sysadmin types to do the racking, setup, etc. that AWS automates and are factoring it into the price. To be fair, that is part of the cost. However, unless you are really big

I think we really need to stick with 1 year, unless a court action is pending. I think we should also require the NSA, etc. to reveal their NSL, etc. after 1 year.

Folks, I strongly, strongly suggest if you use Cloud/VPS providers to look into something like Cassandra, Galera, Mongo, etc. that can do WAN replication and using 3 DCs. Yes it costs money but things like this are avoidable. Every s

Linode has price matched them so its not a price issue anymore. [e.g. $10 Linode is roughly the same as $10 DO] Glad to see the ProjectWonderful ads providing something, even if its small btw. :)

Good luck with that. Even the credit reporting companies get confused and can't figure out who I am accurately. And I actively help them since I like having credit cards and the ability to get mortgage loans.

It is because the people with MBAs and the people on the Board don't really care that much . They'll protest and engage in a little bit of legal action but they don't want to go all out to fight it.
