On both NixOS and Guix System you can get by pretty well without learning the config langs or all the more advanced features. Only really becomes a problem if you need something new packaged. You can enjoy declarative package management wit

I'm a heavy user of rsync and sftp between personal devices, but have never used rclone. Is it only used with cloud storage from the big companies? I have never used any of those so far.

Unsure if IBM is involved, but there is the "industrial ethernet" connector that's different. Tried to find it and found a few variants, but the one I had in mind is the "ix industrial ethernet" that's used by

I get the feeling people hit a bad game or two and stopped checking, so I just want to say native ports actually work fine in my experience, both before and after Proton's birth. Terraria, Garry's Mod, Valve's own titles, and

Is there anything like this, except a CLI tool? Something like yt-dlp. I know of curl and wget, but only the basics. I tend to use qutebrowser, which isn't supported, and I don't really expect it to be supported either. Something

For me, free as in freedom is the primary concern. A proprietary programming language seems a bit ridiculous. I don't see myself paying for a programming language either, though. Libre and gratis are the norm in this space, so going ag

Early PineTime adopter here. The lack of physical buttons is such a massive downgrade that I can't really bring myself to use mine anymore. The apps are also very lacking compared to the Pebble. Specifically timers, stopwatch, alarms.

To add to this, you can directly play stuff in mpv if yt-dlp is installed and in your PATH. Combine this with a window manager shortcut to open the clipboard contents in mpv and the experience is pretty slick. You can also dump the URLs in

Everyone has different preferences, it would be silly to not customize things to fit your wants and needs better. Good defaults are important, but when they're tailored to a large group they can only be so good.

I don't use vendor ROMs, but on my past several phones with LineageOS, I can hold the power button for a few seconds when the screen is off to enable the torch. I can also double tap power for the camera.

For me the main benefit of TUI programs is working with ssh and tmux. Also, they just tend to work better than gtk and qt stuff. My IRC client never lags or crashes, unlike my XMPP and Matrix clients.

99% of my neovim usage is not programming, and either way I have never found syntax highlighting and similar to be all that important. Text editors need to view and edit text, and do it well. That's about it.
