I agree entirely. Perhaps they should be seen as wasteful here and it certainly shouldn't be beyond judgement. For reference, I do practice such things. My entire computing and mobile outlay has been about $250 in the last 5 years.

You're right it's not your money to spend. But if someone threw $900k at crack and whores then I'm sure you'd have a moral judgement to make? This is no different to my opinion.

Similar story. It started as a tidied up Debian fork. Then since about 12.04 LTS it turned into a tidied up Debian unstable fork with all the bugs in it. As a server only and LTS only user, I had no end of problems from there on with unstab

So you can read the "how not to be eaten by bears" section while being eaten by a bear? If you're going to rely on stuff like that, its best to commit to knowledge and practice.

Most people I know buy second hand TIs which aren't expensive. They are around the $20-50 (GBP conversion) mark here in the UK. The Pi is not exactly a good proposition for a calculator either based on form factor and power usage. Also
