With the Intel processors suddenly being hotter with a new kernel, I'd always have a look at the cpu frequency scaling. That's where stuff changed, and the new modules for that could simply work worse for older processors. Especia

That's definitely too defensive and that makes it a bit annoying. I'm sure the page would work very well with the html lazy loading, the images are small enough.

This would be more about making RSS visible for browser users than making Firefox a feedreader. There are many great readers. But the one thing where RSS really is worse off now than it was a decade ago is discoverability. That hurts the op

What would it take to get Firefox to support RSS again? With support I mean: 1. To detect RSS feeds and show an icon in the UI 2. Render RSS files, so they look better than raw text 3. Link that UI icon to a subscribe function: Show a confi

Since I'm just in this thread again anyway: If that was your experience with lazy loading images I can relate, and understand where the negative impression is coming from. That wordpress script is probably loading the image only when t

What usually happens there is that the sites do not work because the JS wasn't downloaded and interpreted yet. That happens more often when all the images are always downloaded when loading the page. Lazy loading of images is one metho

I'd assume this: In the same way as you can not forbid a human to learn concepts from your code, you can not forbid an automated system to learn concepts from your code, regardless the license. Also, if you would it would make your cod

That goes against that specific implementation then, not against the concept, and not against how the feature should be implemented now. I was critical at first as well. But I tested it on the site I linked and on other sites with bigger im

If you implement lazy image loading yourself in JS you will see that the implementation actually makes a big difference in how noticeable it is. The browser does a good job with it. Of course your internet connection can limit you, but it j

I'm aware :) My HP Veer had a funny "feature" where after some inactivity it would reload the page when you then scrolled it. It depends though on the content page and on how slow the network is exactly, doesn't it? I of

You can not scroll faster than images load. You can maybe jump via the scrollbar faster to a page position than images load, but that's it. That's at least with the HTML5 async image standard in Firefox. It's up to the browse

Bit of HN-relevant context: Knights is a text-based mobile game with an interesting concept behind it. https://egamebook.com/ describes that a bit more, and there was at least one frontpage HN submission for a demo project
