How would you go about reviewing a PR like this? AI is red herring in discussions like this. How the change was authored makes no difference here. I wouldn't. I'd reject it. I'd reject it even if the author had lovingly cra

I shared an office with a bunch of crypto enthusiasts in 2010 when I was running my first startup. They kept going on about Bitcoin and how I should get some because money would be obsolete in a few years. I thought they were silly (and I s

OpenAI is now able to release open weight models that meet requisite capability criteria. GPT-OSS:20b is a great model for local use. OpenAI continuing to release open weights is good news.

Something that Claude Sonnet does when you use it to code is write scripts to test whether or not something is working. If it does that for Excel (e.g. some form of verification) it should be fine. Besides, using AI is an exercise in a &quo

It's widely known LLMs are terrible at even basic maths. Claude for Excel isn't doing maths. It's doing Excel. If the llm is bad at maths then teaching it to use a tool that's good at maths seems sensible.

I don't think any of the use cases suggested really make sense though. For a compute-intense task like audio or video processing, or for scientific computing where there's likely to be a requirement to fetch a ton of data, the bro

Meta appear 4 times in the top 10 with a total of about 2.25bn in fines. That sounds like a lot but it's only 1.6% of their revenue. As a cost of doing business that's probably acceptable to the Meta board. It'd cost them mor

In any high-churn job environment like customer support it's easier to assume people will leave rather than fire them. Most of the time you'll be right. That means there's no incentive to manage bad workers.
