Hah how is that relevant to the present conversation? I find it very revealing indeed that whenever you say "black people disproportionately get shot by the police" someone always jumps out with "but they're more likely

I doubt that. You just have to look at plenty of footage that exists from plenty of horrifying situations. Most people in a real crisis freak out.

It's an extra redirect. It's an incremental deterioration of user experience, the first of many to come under the vc drum beat. I was positively aware that they weren't doing it and noticed about an hour ago that they started

Depends. Amazon's terms and conditions for participation in their affiliate program explicitly states that doing that is breach. What they can do, and like I mentioned do do, is they close down your account and keep your money, and now

I refuse to believe that NO ONE ELSE out there does the "read page in order to target ad" thing.

Interesting. Amazon has rules on their affiliate program against storing price information. They have recently kicked out a big player in the space for this reason. Any info on why camelcamelcamel has been allowed to stay?

I'm a "small but not insignificant" adsense publisher. I have in the past received phone calls from an account manager on the phone. I have the phone number they called from, but if you call them it always goes to voice mail.

I'd like to remind everyone that in the USA corporate tax is a humongous 35% rederal, plus state. The point being that there's other ways to attract business that are more effective at growing revenue than cutting tax.

Which is of course false. When you're learning a language as an adult you can read and memorize the other language's grammar from a book. This significantly speeds up your learning.

Ok, so why is Python so slow (comparatively)? I had understood that must of the speed-critical tasks in python were done by wrappers of lower-level C code. Example: numpy. Is this not correct?

Could someone clarify: why is Go faster than say Python? And if the answer is just that it's a lower level language and therefore has less overhead, why not just use C?
