one of the highest priorities, especially for bootstrapped startups, is to ship while lean on resources. In other words, exploit the human resource as much as possible while paying them as little as possible? Makes sound business sense to

I wanted to say that Haiku OS has done it but then again...I'm sure they use some GNU code somewhere.

The GPL has ultimately done more harm than good for open source That's the point. The GPL is for free software. Scared of what codebase? I'm more scared of proprietary software than anything because who knows wtf it's doing.

I find their "current status of the industry" interesting: Today the industry is highly polarized as far as salaries are concerned, having one end with fairly high salaries compared to the rest of the working class and the others with wage

Unions aren't against technological improvements they're just against how quickly those improvements would be put into place because a LOT of jobs would be lost. If driverless subways for example were phased in as workers retired, I'm sure

Wow this sounds like a great idea. I'm curious about Clojure, what exactly makes it most efficient? Is it due to the Lispy-ness of it? ;)

How about unschooling/homeschooling? Being stuck in a classroom all day was torture and do you really think students learn best when they're forced to be obedient? And on the job, rather than the adversarial management vs. union mentality

The difference is that bureaucrats know how to work the system. They make sure that they aren't fired. Haven't you ever noticed that management can stay the same at a company but it's the workers who are replaced (at least more frequently r

About #7, a cigar = relaxing because, at least when I smoke a cigar, I sit outside and just relax for an hour and let my mind have a rest. Cigarettes seem more like an obsessive-compulsive thing to do with your hands. Obviously a cigar is s

It looks like the propaganada of calling the GPL "infectious" and "cancerous" has worked. It's sad that some programmers continue to call the GPL viral because it gives an overly negative connotation. I understand if you dislike the license
