Niggy Tardust was a collaboration wasn't it? A lot of people probably downloaded it to see how good it was. However, $141,000 is still a hefty amount. It would be nice if it were closer to $700,000 but I think it's good enough to live on an

I dislike how it says "if anybody stole it". Piracy isn't stealing, it's copyright infringement. I'm still curious about the bandwidth costs. 110, 000 people is 110, 000 gigabytes which is 110 Tb of bandwidth. How much does that cost?? Also

That isn't violent. It's just a quick shorthand to express an intense dislike of corporations and capitalism without bothering to write a paragraph about it :D What's so violent about that?

The torrent includes a link to the "BUY THIS VIDEO" page. I paid for the video and didn't download it from his website. I would be interested in knowing what the bandwidth costs for Louis C.K. are since the video was around 1GB. The number

This was a pretty good post. I would add that if you can't figure out how to beat out the competition and if you can't get much traction but already have a code base, you should make it free software. Release it under the AGPL or GPL. Might

Unfortunately, the better UI doesn't mean a better product. Working with Magento for example has been a pain in different ways. It sure does look pretty though even when you're debugging things! ;-)

If you're using SSH, you should check out Monkeysphere: http://web.monkeysphere.info/ It allows for the use of OpenGPG keys. There's also a web component so your website can use it! However it only has a FIrefox/IceWeasel plugin for now.

No comments yet about how government agencies don't like being made to look like fools? Nothing about how the FBI seized his computer for pointing out a flaw that makes the millions spent on homeland security look like a gigantic waste?

I'd feel more threatened by incompetent management and by manegement that sees workers as replaceable things. The bottom of the barrell programmers that are hired could be much better if there were training programs and they wouldn't be und

It does make them stupid when they don't consider how much harm has been caused by people helping the government or law enforcement to implement things that cross ethical and moral lines.

No I was talking about making software and giving access to spies such as the government. I think programmers should consider the privacy and ethical implications of whatever they create.

That's fucked up. This is precisely why, if you have any ounce of morality or ethics left in your body, you shouldn't develop any technology for use by governments or law enforcement. The potential for abuse is large and x-raying like this

That's a stupid idea; helping law enforcement do their jobs. THey have large budgets, they can figure this shit out on their own and there's no need to help them oppress your fellow human. Drug laws in most countries are insanely stupid whe
