If you're using SSH, you should check out Monkeysphere: http://web.monkeysphere.info/ http://web.monkeysphere.info/ It allows for the use of OpenGPG keys. There's also a web component so your website can use it! However it only has a FIrefox/IceWeasel plugin for now. It's two parts; the server side validation stuff, and the browser plugin.
