Well, that constructor by default sends all the headers you have for your own domain and auth you are entitled to. This is how all other APIs in browsers work due to security and privacy concerns. If you call to other domains, then this pro

It is easier to deal with all the issues separately. First your algo (in single thread), then threading, then memory accesses and cache effects. After you sort everything in your control, you try to deal with the real world (like counting o

> Intel i7-12700K processor Wait! You can’t benchmark on a CPU with unpredictable speed and mix of slow and fast cores. All kinds of effects come into play here, and the code itself is not the most prominent among them. To measure which

Bad analogies are like bananas in a swordfight. As a “petrolhead” this instantly triggered me: most cars won’t redline at 100mph, actually they won’t even break a sweat (at like 2.5krpm, when redline starts at 5-8krpm depending on engine ty

I moved my PC/NAS to a similar 2U box. With onboard GPU, but instead 7 ssds and 10GbE network card. Though, I did it in a 2U optical cross box. I paid $30 for it, and replaced some panels with fans and grilles. Not 200 euros, holy moly

I think, this is not a problem with package manager per se. But with extremities of coding culture. On one side of the spectrum is “NIH” and reinvent everything yourself. On the other side is: let’s pull left-pad from package, because packa

Idk about Go, but Rust’s cargo seems nice, clean yet powerful. That was my impression some time ago. But last week I attempted to compile a couple of (not very big) tools from cargo. And it ended up downloading hundreds of dependencies and

On windows there is already a built-in clip.exe ( https://ss64.com/nt/clip.html ) which was there like forever... But it is nice to have this tool with more functionality on all platforms in unified way!

Yes it would. I actually started it with the circuit. It would be somewhat frivolous to call it “Ben Eater's”, as it is a circuit recommended in 555’s datasheet ;) You should put a couple of inverters after the 555 timer to make signal

The only way is to build it piecewise, start with generator, clock and PC, then add microcode and code roms. And you will _need_ a chip programmer, something like TL866, this thing can also test simple chips. And a cheap logic analyzer will

If you look closer, this CPU _is_ actually some roms sandwiched between registers. All the logic remaining are bus arbiters and IO access. You can replace 74-181 with one more rom though, but it will not decrease chip count... EDIT: actuall

A couple of years ago I have built a copy of this project with my son on a breadboard with real (made in '80s and '90s) 74-series chips. It was a very fun experience. And we liked the project very much. It has a very small and con

Thanks for the link! IIUIC, wireproxy is not similar, but complementary: you can run wiretap on the server-side and wireproxy on the client and have a complete user-space solution.
