Switches: when I last looked, there were cheap mikrotik switches and tp-link, if you want to buy new. Otherwise search on eBay/craigslist/etc. Network cards: intel, mellanox, solarflare. Intel has a lot of drivers for all OSes, me

If you do not need a cable, there are m.2 to 4x PCIe (open slot, so you can insert 8x and 16x cards) for $5.

There are a lot of m.2 to full-PCIe adapters on AliExpress. And a lot of cheap 10G cards on eBay. I’m using 10G in my home LAN already for ~5 years. And just a month ago I contemplated about upgrading my notebooks to 10G. I ordered a cheap

Wow, thanks for reply! Some time ago (~7-8months) I tried to implement a chronofold-based app myself in not so fancy language (c#). The data structure itself is very nicely described in the paper, but for merging strategy there are only ref

The repo seems to be abandoned. Author of chronofold (@gritzko) pointed me to another impl ( https://github.com/decentralized-hse/collab-edit ) but not checked it, yet... Edit: I’m apparently wrong on the “abandoned” p

unfortunately, [1] has incorrect behavior on some inputs. The hard part of the algo - integration - is implemented incorrectly there :( and for [2] it is still an "open question", as per their Readme.

Thanks! I googled only 1 impl in Rust: https://github.com/dkellner/chronofold which seems to produce invalid results on some inputs. Actually the hard part (integration) is made of hacks there... That PoC Wiki sounds r

That is nice! A couple of questions: Do you have released a CT implementation in top of Chronofold? Have you any plans to benchmark it against other algs?

And theirs Git UI, gmaster, includes the same diff tech too. I do not use it for everyday tasks, but when I need to understand complex and/or big changes this is my go-to tool.

I like using paper for notes, TODOs, drafts, doodling, etc. Especially I like that tactile feeling when I roll a (mechanical) pencil in my fingers. As of paper: I prefer notebooks with tear-off pages, and love to crumple and throw them out

Well, currently the data really starts at 1800 though. For earlier dates data is filled very sparingly, that’s why, I suppose, it defaults to 1800.

It is definitely not an "Arduino", and to be more pedantic, the chip is from Freescale (which is now owned by NXP), but not from NXP itself.

You need repeating pattern due to how steppers work. Theoretically you can have different chips, but they will be distributed evenly. And "yield" in this case is not how many chips can be placed on a wafer, but how many of them wi

Yes, starting with OT looks easy. You can make 99% work in almost no time. But the last 1% will bite you in the rear really hard... Actually, CRDT is not a single data structure or even algorithm. It is a term for several families of data s

I upvote for the link alone. This article (data-laced-with-history) is the best source if you are starting your journey into CRDTs.

CRDTs are hip and cool. But right now I'm trying to find an implementation for desktop software, not some web-framework in-electron. And could not find a concise and correct codebase. All the implementations are: 1. javascript or 2. de
