> Saying someone who is considering suicide might instead consider talking to their doctor doesn’t seem all that controversial to me? It doesn't, and if they said that, I wouldn't have replied that way.

Why do you feel the need to tell people that they are suffering from depression online? Did you fill out the HAM-D questionnaire in your head based off his post?

You can overcome this using a linter that doesn't allow expressions in those contexts, no?

"Large PHP applications" doesn't immediately express to me that you combine styles, scripts, and markup in your templates and have a need for automated context-aware escaping.

While I agree with the overall point, these are different environments. React normally operates in a DOM. It's templates are translated into javascript, and that javascript manipulates the DOM. PHP templates are just outputting strings

I see this issue happen from time to time when including dependencies that are not transpiled. The "distribution" assets of many packages target ES5 or ES6, but every now and then I run into issues introduced by packages that ski

While subjectively more simple, you don't need to rely on browserlist to get optional chaining transpilation in babeljs. You also don't need something as complicated as create-react-app to use babeljs.

This article is about the French Data Protection Act, not GDPR. They might be lex specialis, I don't know. I am just giving a benefit of the doubt that it is a more difficult problem than people make it out to be. I skimmed this [pape

I would think that long lasting copyrights stifle innovation and competition. Where is the incentive to do something new or to allow new players an ability to use works in a new way?

To me, there is a very large difference between the original game in an emulator and this. It appears that this is using http://phaser.io/ and is a complete rewrite of the original game.

Isn't this more of a problem with HN guidelines for submitting articles than anything else? If someone reads the article, they see where it says this is in a mouse model of an uncommon form of ALS.

All CSS is hard to parse visually. Unless you follow very strict development guidelines, you do not really know anything unless you look at the computed styles in a debugging tool. I think Tailwind does help wrangle some of that cognitive
