There was someone I saw on Twitter (which I can't find now) who kept a tally of all the sites that asked them to subscribe when they visited them. The total amount they'd need to spend to subscribe to everything they saw was somet

So, take this for what it is because I'm just some random guy on HN, but my company required us to make our Github primary email our work email to receive alerts. I wasn't comfortable doing on my personal account, and was told to

Gotcha. I guess you could be heavy-handed and disable foreign key checks, but who knows what other bugs that would bring into the mix.

I know the point you're trying to make, but I can't imagine that even the largest Elon Musk fanboys would disagree that he's divisive. At best, I can imagine them saying it's not his fault and people overreact, but that&

Heh - in college I took a network security class that required us to set up our own attack/defend environments, and one of the important parts of the report was to explain to the TAs how to set up our environment. We were able to save

If I'm reading the graph in the press release right, M1 Ultra will have a TDP of 60W, right? A 3990X has a TDP of 280W. I know TDP != power draw, and that everyone calculates TDP differently, but looking purely at orders of magnitude,

My alma mater just gave each of our machines WAN IPs and the rest was up to us :) (this is recent, too. I graduated in May of '21) We could more or less host whatever, provided we followed the AUP. No need to file a request.

Even if you discount the examples with no lane markings or low visibility (both of which are quite common in the Boston area, so a system not designed to handle it is ultimately flawed), it almost running into three separate trucks cannot e

My Subaru will not enable lane-keep below highway speeds. Adaptive cruise control can be done at any speed (greater than zero... it turns itself off if traffic is stopped), though.

> A software engineer should fully understand a function that calculates the length of a string... Once you get into language semantics of iterating over characters vs bytes vs graphemes, it's not always so trivial.

My understanding (I got this from listening to The WAN Show, but I don't have a timestamp off hand) is that they want to stop selling them to consumers directly (rather than to OEMs), presumably because volume was too low to support it

Obviously this is nowhere near the level of sophistication of this car, but I love using adaptive cruise control in slow traffic. My car turns it off if I've been stopped for a few seconds, so it's not great in stop/go traffi

Google does this as a whole, IME. A body shop did a really shoddy repair and when I went to check my review later, it was gone. I don't understand why; it shows when I'm logged into the original Google account, but not otherwise.
