Maybe the ChatGPT implementation of GPT-4 is different than the one in Bing AI, but I tried to ask Bing AI to write a fairly simple Python-based ini-parser yesterday (and by that I really mean using the built-in configparser module), and wh

FWIW, Docker was not intended originally to be a tool for commercialization; it grew out of dotCloud, which open sourced the tool as a last-ditch-effort of sorts, if memory serves.

The reality is that if you ask 3 different people you're going to get 3 different answers. They're fundamentally the same, just a matter of package management. As far as I'm aware, the current "SOTA" is Poetry. I li

I joked about this with a coworker, but I do have to wonder what they actually use for monitoring internally. It would be interesting if they just have a second copy of the prod stack for internal monitoring, or something.

Those short form programming videos perpetuate the parts of this industry I really dislike, particularly the "look you install the latest dependency and things go :rocketship: :rocketship:". They never convey much nuance and are j

What makes something like outdated tech a "surprise", rather than just "reality"? As in it was actively hidden from you, or just not something anyone thought worth mentioning until it came time to plow through the code?

Sorry, I don't mean to imply it's universally supported, but there is support on both sides of the aisle. But the article you linked does indeed say it has had bipartisan support :) > When Sens. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Dan Coat

This is far from perfect, IME. The big problem I have (and maybe there's a solution I don't know about) is that there's no easy way to test getting event data, unless you wanna rebuild the events yourself (which is hardly rel

The JS one does seem to have some more power than the Elixir one. For instance, in Elixir, if it's a bit kludgy to pipe to a second or third argument. I find this often when I want to insert into a map. You can always define more funct
