It hasn’t paid in decades - it’s well established that the most effective way to increase comp is to change employer not hope for recognition. Employers refuse to provide even basic inflation matching compensation increases, and report what

Super disappointed by the article, but 100% because I read the title as "The big lie about sheep" and was super interested in finding out what _that_ lie was. Now I want that article to exist.

Developers just replaced IE as the only thing they develop for with chrome, users then _have_ to use chrome because of web developers who only develop for chrome and consider any behaviour other than "it works in chrome" as a bug

That depends on what your use case is, but because we're considering MT we can assume there's nothing remotely related to cryptography so there are plenty of options. In practice people seem to have adopted the various xorshift st

oh, ubuntu added ads to the motd at some point? I was about to profess surprise, but then I remembered that Firefox injected spyware and ads as well so I guess it's a given these days :-/

Alternatively, try any other OS, including older windows, where there are just no ads to turn off in the first place. Windows has the worst ads, comparing it to something totally unrelated like webpages is nonsensical.

People don’t write application code in those languages but as I understand it cobol is still underpinning large swathes of the financial system, and similar applies to fortran in engineering and scientific computing.
