But if you have a structure that contains offsets into another buffer somewhere, or an index, whatever - the wrong value here could be just as bad as a use-after-free. I don’t see how this is any safer. If you use memory after free from a

Correct. The dev teams working on the ‘client’ part of the game (ie, the game) don’t have time to be contributing code to open source projects, but we don’t use much open source code anyway. But other teams within the company will be using

Not everyone uses Git, or even works with projects that use Git…

That’s not true. I’m a gamedev and have never had to learn git. The closest would be downloading a zip from GitHub. Almost all game dev is done on Perforce due to the enormous asset sizes we work with.

You just need to read peoples experiences of Pinterest in this thread. My search results are better without images from Pinterest showing up.

I work in a AAA game company, and see similar to GPs comments. I guess the reason is that so many people also leave the games industry early on (relative to career span). From my experience (In in the programming dpt, at-least), lots of dev

You can do this already (built into windows), by pressing SHIFT+Right Click (shift or alt, not at my PC to check). The context menu will show some extra options, one of which is ‘copy path’

My girlfriend has a VW Up! and I think the cradle idea is brilliant. It’s not as good as the new Polo setup, but changing music/sat nav is so much better on an iPhone than it would be on a cheap integrated system.

Code visualisations I agree aren’t that useful, and if I never have to look at UML style diagrams it’ll be too soon. The visualisations I’m talking about are mostly debugger tools. The parallel stacks view is life saving when you’re trying

Visual Assist X is a VS plugin that everyone I know seems to have pre-installed wherever they work. It allows things like jump to file/symbol using a keyboard shortcut and fuzzy search. I imagine there's equivalent with vim, etc,

I'm a game developer mainly writing/reading/debugging C++ on a codebase that's well over a million lines of code. As with most game-dev I'm developing almost entirely using Visual Studio, and I can't imagine tr

I don’t use emails much on my MBP (2016), but I had to send one today. I loaded up gmail, waited a bit for it to load, then clicked ‘compose’ only for the interface to show ‘something is wrong’ in various places. In the end I just setup ema

It’s not quite the same, but windows 10 shows some basic gpu utilisation in task manager next to each processes, and some graphs in the next tab (where cpu, memory etc are - there’s a new tab for GPU)

The high precision offered by Galileo was one of the reasons why the Pentagon rejected the system in the first place. There were fears that adversaries of NATO or of other allies could use it for military purposes. However, engineers have
