Diaspora needs to be the Dropbox for Facebook (plus any other social network). They need to launch as the diaspora facebook app. P2P with just your friends. The abundance of legitimate uses provides a legal shield that will allow all kinds

On a related note, NEVER put a doctor, lawyer, or accountant on a board of directors. It's very tempting because they often have many of the external signs of success. But many years of indoctrination have taught them to limit risk at all c

Hopefully. With Google behind it they have a better chance of fending off the patent trolls masquerading as an educational services provider.

A few thoughts off the top of my head. 1) You've gotta network the shit out of it if you want the big $$$. Otherwise get ready for assholes on craigslist who are looking for "a college student that wants to build their portfolio" 2) Pricing

That's what "flag" is there for-- please do your part -- and if that part involves a greasemonkey script that auto-flags anything from techcrunch then more power to you.

jrails will let you use jquery rather that prototype but it doesn't generate clean code like rail 3 does. unless you have some dependencies that are not compatible, the bump to 3 is really worth it. http://github.com/aaronchi/jrails

Snag it from github: http://github.com/bububa/MongoHub-Mac/downloads The app was previously released using titanium and it was really unusable. This version is a native app... and outstanding.

I don't even know where to begin. Apple is the one that made the decision to stay with ATT so it's their own damn fault. As Apple loves to say, it's the end user experience that matters. Apple has stuck by ATT for two reasons: Control and M

Actually Christians do seem to constantly apologize and distance themselves from Christians with whom they disagree. Every time Pat Robertson opens his mouth you'll see swarms of Christians clarifying THIS IS NOT WHAT I BELIEVE. I think "fr

I thought I just gave a response. Christianity has a clear example of how to respond to persecution in that God sacrificed himself for others. This doesn't give me a better understanding of the Islamic perspective.

I agree, it's not very charitable. But remember we are also very isolated from the conflict in Europe-- the whole culture is getting rocked over how Islam functions in a modern society. My uncle in France has friends who describe themselves

Yes, but I do feel a little bad for the other 20,000 developers that don't have the resources to do anything about it. It's now clear that "open platform" hype is pure marketing spin -- bullshit-speak to make you think they actually give a

This is not the real problem. The bigger issue is that youtube videos are EDITED. People put hours into editing a single clip to make it palatable. Even if you DO catch a live stream the signal/noise is usually unbearable. No amount of tech

You're ignoring the fact that almost all Americans ARE "PR majors" -- lots of other names for shitty degrees, of course -- but the hard sciences are dominated by indians and asians. Communications, sports medicine, all these majors attract

Telling people to "toughen up" is missing the point. The University of Chicago is built around creating Nobel prize winners (which they do a damn good job of it). But they also drive students so hard that they often fail out or just commit
