I've always wondered when someone would use EC2 and launch a free service with ICMP/DNS tunneling... and release a dead-simple client app. I'm guessing most of this wifi infrastructure would take quite awhile before very much of it was clos

I've set this up and it's pretty slow. Cool hack though. Better off with 3G card or tethering bluetooth on a 2G network. Useful with international travel though where phones get sketchy...

Avoid DNS if at all possible. I've used these guys for years, simple and really reliable: http://www.dnsmadeeasy.com/s0306/price/dns.html More recently, Godaddy (and I'm sure other registrars?) includes DNS hosting for free-- It's a crapp

Nice and simple. Question: Is it theoretically possible to build a cloud hash-database that uses mysql on the front-end? Any joins would automatically be handled for you and the system would watch what queries you are running to dynamically

I don't think they have an API, but www.voip.ms has been phenomenal for us. Really great design, great customer service, and CHEAP. Live chat them and see what they say, it would probably be easy just to hpricot a homebrew API with them.

Weebly is a great concept, but right now they only have a small selection of relatively bland templates... Until they open it up to outside custom templates (or find a way to convert wordpress templates!) it's a hard sell.
