As a Brit using the NHS I can only add that I trust, and expect, every government to make the NHS worse whilst they talk of how marvellous it is. I would really like it given to an independent cross-party body, or the civil service, to try

Cannot argue that f2p where it is cosmetics and trivia is reasonable enough, although that seems to be very much the minority these days. F2P where it's pay2win, or worse pay to progress, and endless loot boxes is gambling for kids, an

Now we have web assembly and EME for closed and proprietary blobs, and JS for hogging resource. Flash was a mess, but the sunlit uplands after Flash aren't looking especially sunny!

That they have such a weak patent is a problem with the system that permits it. Copyright should be enough for software. The morality doesn't seem that disparate either - they are both exploitative. I do stand corrected on this company

That was surprisingly refreshing to read. Not common to see an honest take on what's wrong with f2p gaming from a game company.

Not true. Plenty of non-technical people had a web page up like this one. Nearly all ISPs included some webspace, and enough instructions to get going. Lots of people put up something on user.demon.co.uk or geocities about themselves, the

Hard to decide how I feel here. I hate software patents and patent trolls, but I also hate what f2p and premium currencies have done to gaming. Which is the lesser of these evils?

I used to say, and believe, such things. After over 30 years of work, and business, I have become vastly more tolerant and understanding of those who were diligently "out there swinging" until it broke them, and sometimes their fa

The earliest Lego was cellulose, which is biodegradable. They'd do better simply going back to that. Though I'm not sure how cellulose is for longevity.

Additives and anti-oxidants have got better I think. Pretty much all plastic from the 60s - 80s is prone to hardening and yellowing. In the worst cases the surface can start crumbling. See old computer cases for instance.

Of course after someone has achieved success they put it down entirely to innate worth, effort, skill and so forth. Likewise plenty who have deserved success have been wiped out by unlucky timing of the dot com bust, credit crunch, fraud. Y

Why is it a long-form post more suited to Livejournal or blog post and in no way written to work on Twitter? That in itself is indicative of the problem.

It's hurting their brand, even if they haven't realised. I don't want 3 attempts and returns to buy a battery, or charger, or any of the dozens of categories this affects. I don't want to be buying co-mingled inventory o

This is ruling out Amazon for so many categories of product and has been going on for years. Yet they don't seem to be bothered. So now I look on Amazon, then see if I can buy direct or from a different retailer.

Do you apply the same logic to cash? Should that be phased out? The biggest appeals of phasing out cash are the possibility of negative interest rates along with the erosion of privacy. But those are appealing to governments not citizens.
