I highly recommend either Grails, Spring Boot or Micronaut. There are several others, but they lack documentation, has confusing documentation or is over-engineered. Of these 3, Grails is convention over configuration, and the two others co

What do people go for these days? I am working at a startup, and I need to pick either OpenSearch or Elasticsearch. So far I've concluded with that Solr is not that good in a cluster setup. The last option is using FTS in PostgreSQL, w

I also really like Neo4J, but the community version is very crippled. Still though, I've worked around it and do hot backups with ZFS and run multiple database processes to support multiple customers.

Read the authors argument why they don't use Kotlin, a better language is not always nicer, especially when you risk being left behind. That is the reason why I don't touch C#. Java has a massive community and a community that s

I would like to add Microsoft Office 365, most of you would like access to the Office applications. If not, that is fine as you can still pay less. You also get Azure Active Directory included for free, which you can use for single sign on

I recommend using Micronaut + Thymeleaf, its simple, easy and fast in both performance and developer productivity. Vanilla HTML, CSS and Javascript is fine. The best part by using Micronaut is that the documentation is really really good. I

I have used FreeBSD for a over a decade now. ZFS was the new cool thing I feel in love with. Today its a different story. FreeBSD is cool, and you will learn more about Linux by learning FreeBSD and it works really well. However I am curren

I use ZFS snapshots and send/replication. This has been the easiest and most reliable backup solution for everything. I especially enjoy taking backup of SQL Server with ZFS with the new snapshot feature in SQL Server 2022 "ALTER

I am a big fan of Gitea, it does exactly what I wants it too and its very easy to maintain over time. I run it together with ZFS and SQLite. This enables atomic snapshot of both the database and git repository. And this is of course replica
