I work at a startup, which is around 15 months old now. We have no UI/UX designer, and have not focused on creating a good UX. We would love to have one, but have not found the right candidate yet. But we are doing very well, we are no

That is not very specific, a consumer PC would be fine with a 750 Evo also, maybe two of them in raid 0 for twice the sequential read & write speed. I believe for most consumers, having more SSD storage per $ is more important.

So what is the use case for this drive? The 960 Evo/Pro are supposed to be premium models, but a better investment would be a cheaper SSD drive with more storage. And if you rarely write that much, more ram will increase the read speed

There are a lot of desktop applications that does synchronous all the time. Chrome, Firefox and Spotify are a few examples as they use SQLite which does fsync() system call. But yeah, you will be fine even with a spinning hard drive. My poi

Have you checked your SMART data for how much your read/write ratio is? I think you will find those results surprising, even when you think that you don't write that often.

I also have a Samsung 960 Evo. Its performance is what I consider a joke, fio and pg_test_fsync make it almost look as slow as spinning SAS drives. For example on a 4kb sync write with 16 threads test, the 960 Evo cannot do more than 1000 i

Creating training data for a chatbot that has thousands of intents in a single domain like banking, takes MANY months even if you have a team creating the training data. We have worked around this with creating pre-trained intent modules wi

I disagree, I see people fail learning programming over and over again. Even after three years completing a computer engineering degree, they struggle with how a for loop works, (No this is not a joke in Europe). Learning to program takes a

Yeah I wonder how hot it gets when doing matrix multiplications with numpy. My i6700K starts throttling within a few seconds, with air cooling rated for 130w. Though for gaming it is most likely a dream.

I have the Nexus 5, great phone! But it no longer gets updated. And with the Blueborne security issue this annoys the heck out of me. With iPhone I can at least expect 5 years lifetime with updates.

I agree, I would also like that add that I learned a lot more about Linux when I learned FreeBSD. It it also a nice system for Java applications these days too, which I struggled with 5+ years ago.

At my company we prefer using vanilla Javascript over all these (exhausting) frameworks! Especially many of the new features in Ecmascript 6 makes things much simpler. No more overusing bind(), template literals for building HTML and so on.

We have 3-4 people that take care of that and that works with closing. But sales is not their primary role.

Not always. We sell out software to the big banks and we don't have a single salesperson in our team. Everyone call us. The reason for this is that we have been in national newspapers with awesome articles, which is great marketing. I&

ZFS autotunes memory allocation based on how much ram you have, if you have 128GB ram free, ZFS will use that. In fact all operating systems eat GB's of free RAM just like ZFS. Software raid has a larger write penalty, that is why you

First ZFS don't need much RAM, you are fint with as little as 2GB. You can still use hardware raid with ZFS if you export each disk as its own device and assemble the raid with ZFS. It is not the parity calculations that are slow, it i

I think Norway, Oslo absolutely can match or even pay slightly better than Zurich. An annual salary over 100K Euro for a senior software developer is not uncommon.

We use Groovy in production, working with SQL, Transactions or JSON is much easier than Java. Meta programming and Traits are other advantages. The biggest advantage is that it is so similar to Java code, that any Java developer can pick it

The reason is that the Linux and FreeBSD kernels are vastly different. The FreeBSD kernel is more similar to Solaris than Linux and this is what ZFS was developed for. So in the end you have way more kernel "workarounds" for ZFS o

pg_xlog has 8k records with lz4 compression. You can disable full-page writes, though I've never had any issues with it on either. For tablespaces the recordsize can be anything from 8k to dynamic / 128k. They all have pro/
