A couple of networks that aim to improve Tor / I2P are Lokinet[1] and Yggdrasil[2]. And they each have their own messenger projects. Loki is running Session Messenger[3] and Yggdrasil is partnering with Matrix on their p2p project[4].

It should be noted that Mastodon is in process of adding e2e encryption. And Matrix chat has implemented the ability for server admins (at least on synapse server) to enable e2e encryption by default for all rooms. Even still, as long as ac

Decentralized Identifiers / accounts are being added to every federated spec that I know of. So I think everyone is aware of the issue there. Regarding spam and abuse, what deters that on Urbit? The cost of a planet? Planets are only a

Full disclosure I have been on Urbit (probably talked to people for 3 hours in total and spent 12 hours total setting it up and tinkering with Hoon). Great conversations with interesting people has exactly zero bearing on the quality of the

This comment is too vague and general for me to interact with. I have a notion that I disagree with what you’re getting at here, but I can’t be sure. I agree that the public is lied to. But that is usually through editorialization of headli

Well a large amount of censorship has to do with being attractive to advertisers. And there’s this strange viscous cycle of how the Overton Window[1] is formed and then rigidly enforced. It’s not clear to me what comes first, chicken or egg
