In a P2P model, there's multiple ways of going about this. But I tend to think that a true web of trust model makes the most sense. There may be 250 pewdiepie's on the network, but I'll just follow the one that (1) is closest

That's exactly why I said "It sounds silly to the technical demographic". Many people on HN just straight up won't understand what I'm talking about. To a normal person, "@gmail.com" doesn't say _anyt

The problem for the Fediverse will always be domains, in my opinion. It sounds silly to the technical demographic, but to a normal person, it is a massive issue. "Which server do I choose to get in bed with?" It's not just a

I found a streamer that was really cool. Followed. Honestly great product. It's like StumbleUpon but for streamers.

I think it is inevitable, yeah. But, this wouldn't have been a problem if the product itself was decentralized. For example, if it was optional to connect to the Keybase network to begin with. Imagine a keybase-type app that is built o

I'd say another option might be PouchDB in combination with CouchDB. That's what Hoodie uses. But I don't see why you couldn't try GUN if you wanted to. It's disturbing how HN seems to demand a kind of "brand l

It's humorous to me that Hacker News allows this kind of unsubstantiated slander. No example of "obvious errors", no mention of which talk this even was. I'm not even a Gun fanboy. I've just used it successfully and

This is the book you're looking for: https://www.learn-clojurescript.com/ I've been keeping tabs on it and progress is being made all the time. Already tons of content.

My comment was less about possibility and more about willingness. But it looks like many are taking accessibility as a first-class concern, which is great to see.

It's unfortunate. Because when fresh eyes take a look at Elixir, it's hard to miss that the whole genserver pattern feels like a workaround / anti-pattern. I remember thinking, "This feels messy..." but not really k

I actually agree with every pain point that Dave Thomas described in his talk[1] and is outlined in the Component github repo[2]. Sadly, it's unclear to me if anyone else is as passionate and willing to continue the effort. Nonetheless

Any idea why there's no usable app running on top of it yet? Even in alpha, it should be able to handle basic identity and message sending, right? Secushare still not a working app?

Gun is a graph database. I don't think Orbit uses a graph system, but instead uses feeds or KV stores. So that's a another difference. But Gun can use IPFS as a storage adapter if you wanted.

To clarify, "multiple feed types" means immutable feeds and mutable feeds? As a user, how can I know which type of feed I'm posting to? Will clients just adopt the mutable feeds by default? Or will they allow you choose the t

GnuNet sounds really cool. I've been reading about it. Are there any alpha versions of app implementations? Anything that a user can try at all yet?

The webp issue is truly infuriating. I'd like to support it in my own websites, but I literally can't since a huge chunk of visitors use Safari. The only hope seems to be mobile linux initiatives like PinePhone, etc. But I'm

I didn’t mean to compare specifically to PS4. I was just clarifying that Dreams is a PS4 game. The comparison is more about the framework usability vs the quality of the end product. I’m wondering if Godot is maybe targeting similar audienc
