Sure, if AGI were controlled by an organization or individual with good intent, it could be used that way or for other good works. I suspect AGI will be controlled by a big corp or a small startup with big corp funding and/or ties and

We already have human-level intelligence in HUMANS right now, the hack is that the wealthy want to get rid of the human part! It's not crazy, it's sad to think that humans are trying to "capitalize" human intelligence, r

I'll hand it to you that a $1mm home is definitely valuable, however in my case, living on an island, it's not like I can trade it for anything much less valuable, so it's pretty much non-fungible if you assume I will move fr

Seriously, the answer is to have the students turn essays in using stages. First stage is to write on paper by hand, even if there’s not a lot of research or facts yet. Lay out the argument first using what they remember from the initial re

Maybe if prices doubled over a few years, housing was out of reach, and salaries were stagnant it would be harder to buy stuff and the economy would suffer. Whoops!

That’s the whole point I was trying to make, of course. Physical objects are easier to complete. Software never becomes complete, in many cases.

I find it’s easier for me to finish physical products, like woodworking, rather than software. I’m building a door right now for my patio, and let me tell you that it’s next to impossible to redo the design of a piece of wood once you’ve mi

In any case, Amazon did give back to Elastic via code commits before the fork, so they didn't just steal the code, they also made it better. I can't believe I am defending Amazon, but this is a hill that I will die on: FOSS means

Your link specifically says Amazon didn’t steal the code, some German company did. I get it, Amazon is bad, I agree they are too, but not because they’re malicious, Amazon is bad because they’re too large to compete on level ground with any

What, when Amazon forked an open source project, as was allowed by the license, and continued to support that open source license even when the original company abandoned theirs? I’m not an Amazon fan, but they did the same thing (forking)

Millions of people experience name changes… and have to file paperwork. I don’t know how many copies of my marriage cert I’ve had to send out now. I had to send one to a multiplayer video game company to change an account name, for example.
